The SSC Tuatara

This new prototype car by SSC is pointed directly for the Bugatti Veyron's holy title.  It has a claimed top speed of 276 mph (some are saying its even in the 285 area) and weighs only 2750 pounds!  If you've never heard of SSC they're not just some company that came up out of nowhere.  SSC has previously created the Ultimate Aero, which challenged the Veyron's title in the past and was featured in numerous car magazines and Jay Leno's garage.

Here are some numbers for you to wrap your head around:

Engine:  Twin-Turbo V8
Horsepower:  1350 bhp @ 6800 rpm
Torque:
1042 ft-lbs @ 6800 rpm
0-60mph:  2.5 seconds
1/4 mile:
9.75 seconds at 144 mph
Top Speed:  276mph
Weight: 2750 pounds

The SSC Tuatara is one of the most extreme looking cars compared to other exotics.  SSC is also an American company so its amazing to see this sort of result from a car company based in the US.  Its unlike any street legal car we've seen before and we have to say that we love it!  This car hasn't actually been released yet but we're sure the price tag will be gigantic and production will be very limited.

I think the car is actually too futuristic looking, and looks like something out of a 1950s concept car magazine. The car looks awesome on paper, but we'll see if it can match the Veyron. If it it does I might change my tune, but the car seems too impractical to even touch the street. I also think its funny how how SSC had to change thier name so no one would think thier affiliated with Carroll Shelby.

Personnally I think SSC is ran by a bunch of pretentious Asswipes, The car looks pretty cool but I can't find any videos of the car actually racing or in motion. I need to see this car perform.

Haha, that's because the car doesn't even exist, other than car show and testing models. I don't really want SSC to take the top speed record just due to the fact of Bugatti's great history. SSC just shows up and blows the doors off the Veyron 16.4 and Bugatti fired right back. I think they know SSC will keep trying and Bugatti keep record breaking models set up for when a new competitor shows up.
